In 1976 my father sought the Presidency and lost the Republican nomination. Without doubt, God knew it was not the right time for Ronald Reagan to be President. While He let my father lose then, He did not call him to quit, and my father continued to work tirelessly for values we hold dear. And then, when the time was right, He brought my father to the Presidency.

What was the result? The defeat of communism and the resurgence of freedom around the globe - freedom to worship openly, to live with dignity, and to govern rightly.

But other threats have not yet been defeated. My father’s Presidency meant pro-life Supreme Court Justices committed to a culture of life. Faith and family values returned to the center of American community life.

Now we face challenges very much like those my father faced. An ultra-liberal Congress led by an extremist pro-abortion San Francisco liberal, Nancy Pelosi. A liberal Senate Leader, at the head of an extremely liberal pro-abortion Senate with the likes of John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Diane Feinstein, and even a socialist, Senator Bernie Saunders of Vermont. Moreover, we have a President who, incredibly, was THE MOST liberal member of this radical left, pro-abortion Senate before being elected President. As a State Legislator, Senator and so far as President, Barack Obama has opposed every proposal in defense of life, even laws striving to ban partial birth and late-term abortions!
